Sheet updated September 2026
The Duotone R190 is the stabilizer Duotone designed for high-speed tracking. It features winglets at the tips. This is the rear part of your foil, the one that screws to the end of the fuselage and dictates pitch stability. The R190 stands out with its vertical winglets at the wingtip. They lock yaw when your speed increases. A classic stabilizer lets the foil wobble. The profile remains thin, with a low drag coefficient. This stability doesn't come at the cost of speed. This is the stabilizer Duotone recommends with the Blitz D/LAB Front Wing.
KEY INFORMATION
DUOTONE BACK WING STABILIZER R190 - Foil stabilizer with winglets, designed for speed.
What we like
- Winglets: The vertical winglets at the wingtip lock yaw at high speed. This is what sets the R190 apart from an ordinary stabilizer.
- Low drag: The profile is thin and refined. The stability you gain doesn't come at the cost of lost speed.
- Pitch stability: This is the most difficult axis to hold on a fast foil, and where the R190 truly shines.
- Shim adjustment: It accepts Duotone shims, including negative 0.3 and 0.6-degree shims. You can fine-tune the angle of attack.
- The Blitz stabilizer: This is the one Duotone recommends for both Blitz D/LAB surfaces, in 550 and 800.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
What a stabilizer does, and what this one does.
The stabilizer is the small wing attached to the rear of the fuselage. It works in opposition to the Front Wing, preventing your foil from pitching up or down. For a slow setup, almost any stabilizer will do. At high speeds, things get complicated. The foil becomes sensitive to yaw. It starts to wander, and you spend your time correcting. The R190 addresses this specific problem with geometry designed for speed rather than low-speed comfort.
The winglets
The two vertical fins at the wingtips are the R190's signature. They limit marginal vortices and provide lateral support that locks the yaw axis. This means your foil maintains its course without you having to actively steer it. This makes all the difference on a long, fast straight line. Duotone also chose a low-drag profile. This gain in handling doesn't create a braking effect.
Assembly and tightening torque
The R190 screws onto the end of the fuselage with two M6x16 screws, tightened to 10 Nm. The torque is not just a suggestion. If it's too loose, the interface works and dissipates energy. If it's too tight, you mark the carbon. On the new 47 cm Duotone tail, a fourth screw completes the assembly and eliminates residual flex. The screws are not included with the stabilizer.
Fine-tuning with shims
Duotone offers shims that slide into the interface to modify the stabilizer's angle of attack. The negative 0.3 and 0.6-degree shims reduce this angle and thus drag, at the cost of some rear lift. This is an adjustment for experienced riders, to be tested progressively. It performs best when combined with the 47 cm tail and its fourth screw.

FAQ - Duotone Back Wing Stabilizer R190
For the foiler seeking speed and course stability. This is especially true for those setting up a Blitz D/LAB, as Duotone pairs this stabilizer with that wing. For relaxed freeride or progression, a more generous stabilizer will be more comfortable.
It mounts on Duotone fuselages that accept two M6x16 screws, including the 47 cm D/LAB tail. On a foil from another brand, the bolt spacing and mounting thickness will not match. If in doubt, call us with your fuselage product code.
No, the stabilizer is sold separately. You need two M6x16 screws, tightened to 10 Nm. If you are replacing an old stabilizer, reuse its screws if they are in good condition.
They change the stabilizer's angle of attack. The negative 0.3 and 0.6 degree shims reduce the angle and drag. This benefits speed. This is a setting to fine-tune session after session. It is not a mandatory purchase to start.
