John Malloy arrived in Yallingup, Western Australia, in 1974 with just a board and a backpack. He spent over a decade tinkering with surf gear before officially founding Creatures of Leisure in 1987. All production was initially local (source: creatures.com.au, consulted 08/24/2026). The brand never made boards or wetsuits. Instead, they make everything else, and that's precisely why we stock their gear.
Creatures Leashes
Choose leash length based on your board, not your height.
The Pro 6 at €38 features a 6-foot, 7 mm cord and double stainless steel swivels. This is your go-to shortboard leash for intermediate to powerful waves.
The Pro 7 at €40 measures 7 feet (2.1 m). This length remains manageable in choppy water. It's the default choice for a slightly longer shortboard or a small fish.
The Pro 9 comes in an ankle leash version at €45 and a knee leash version at €48. It's 9 feet (2.7 m) with a 7 mm cord. This leash is for longboards and powerful waves.
The Pro 10 is €50 for the knee version, and the Ankle Leash 10 is €50. It measures 10 feet (3.0 m), perfect for longboards and other long boards.
Ankle or knee? On a longboard, a knee leash prevents the cord from tangling around your feet when you walk on the board. It offers no benefit on a shortboard. Prices observed on 08/24/2026.

The Italo Ferreira Lite Ecopure Pad at €50 is another signature pad. It's more dynamic and lighter, perfect for surfers who prioritize responsiveness.
The Reliance III Cord Pad at €49 is a three-piece pad with an 8 mm teardrop arch, a fine cord pattern, and large cutouts. It delivers a feel close to surfing without a pad, which is exactly what it's designed for.

I have a shortboard
Grab a Pro 6 if your board is around 6 feet, or a Pro 7 if it's longer. The simple rule: your leash length should match your board length.
I have a longboard
Choose a Pro 9 or a Pro 10 in the knee version. An ankle leash will get tangled in your feet on a board where you walk.
I surf in powerful waves
Go for a leash with a minimum 7 mm cord. A thinner leash is more discreet but breaks faster, and a broken leash in big waves is a serious problem.
I want the grippiest pad
The Mick Fanning Loc-Lite Ecopure. It offers the most grip of the three, designed for powerful surfing.
I want to feel my board
The Reliance III Cord. It features a fine pattern, large cutouts, and a feel close to surfing without a pad. It's also the lightest option.
Looking for an allround pad?
The Italo Ferreira Lite Ecopure is dynamic and lightweight. It's an allround pad that fits most shortboards without being overly specialized.

What leash length should I get?
Your leash should be at least the length of your board, rounded up to the next foot. A leash that's too short will tug at your ankle with every wipeout. If it's too long, it'll drag and get tangled. For example, a 6'2 board needs a 6 or 7-foot leash, while a 9-foot longboard requires a 9 or 10-foot leash.
Ankle or knee?
Go for a knee leash when longboarding, as you move around on the board. For everything else, an ankle leash is best. This isn't about comfort; it's about how the cord behaves when you're walking.
What cord diameter?
A thinner cord creates less drag and is less noticeable, but a thicker cord is more durable. Creatures' Pro Series uses 7mm, which strikes the right balance for intermediate to powerful waves.
When should I change a leash?
Replace your leash as soon as the cord shows permanent deformation, the Velcro no longer holds firmly, or the swivels start to creak. A leash is a wear item, not a lifetime purchase, and it always breaks at the worst possible moment.
What does Ecopure mean on the pads?
Ecopure is the name Creatures uses for its Lite signature pads. It refers to the foam's composition. For the exact materials, ask us, and we'll get the specifications from the brand.
Does an Icon Lite bag protect during travel?
No, not for flying. These are everyday transport bags with intentionally thin padding to keep them lightweight. For air travel, you'll need a thick bag, or even a double bag.

How to install a pad correctly?
Install the pad on a clean, dry board at room temperature. Never install it in the sun. Position it dry before removing the protectors. Align it with the board's axis and the tail. Then, press firmly for several minutes. A poorly glued pad will peel off in the first summer.
What does Ecopure mean?
Ecopure is the name Creatures uses on its Lite signature pads. It refers to the foam composition. We are not including recycled content figures here due to a lack of exact reference. Ask us, and we will get the specifications from the brand.
Are Icon Lite bags suitable for travel?
No, Icon Lite bags are not suitable for air travel. Their padding is intentionally thin to keep them lightweight. This is perfect for daily car or bike commutes and storage. However, it's insufficient for checked baggage. For air travel, you need a thick bag.
Which bag for which board?
The Fish Icon Lite is for shortboards and fish. The Longboard Icon Lite is for longboards. Check your board's length before ordering. A bag that's too big offers poor protection, and one that's too small won't close.
Will a Creatures leash fit any board?
Yes, a Creatures leash will fit any board. It mounts to the standard leash plug found on all modern boards, using the included cord. The only thing to check is the length, not compatibility.
