Slingshot SlingWing NXT V2 & V6 2026: Rider Reviews
Two wings, two perspectives. For 2026, Slingshot offers its SlingWing NXT in two versions: the V2 in Aluula for performance purists, and the V6 in Dacron for those who prioritize value for money. Same DNA, two constructions, two budgets. To help you decide, we've combined the opinions of Oscar (GlissEvolution advisor, NXT V2 in 4 m² in La Baule) and Hadou Brunner, a leading French-speaking wingfoil tester, who has ridden both versions.
Thanks to Oscar and Hadou Brunner for their on-the-water feedback.
The SlingWing NXT V2 (Aluula) and V6 (Dacron) share the same 2026 shape: the V2 targets pure performance and freestyle, while the V6 aims for versatility and the best value for money.
NXT V2: ultra-light Aluula construction (~1.98 kg in 4 m²), noticeable power in the back hand, significantly improved stability in the air, starting from €1.699. V6: durable and forgiving Dacron, extended size range (up to 7 m²), ideal for progression, starting from €949. Slingshot didn't hold back on the V6: same R&D, same finish; the difference lies in the feel, not the bridle.
NXT V2 or V6: Which one is for you?
The choice depends on your profile and priorities. According to Oscar and Hadou:
- Choose the NXT V2 if you're looking for maximum performance, you regularly practice freestyle, you want the best available gear, and weight/responsiveness are priorities.
- Choose the V6 if you're looking for the best value for money, you want a versatile and forgiving wing, you're still progressing, or you need a large size (6 to 7 m²).

Our Detailed Review
Construction: Aluula vs. Dacron
This is where it all happens. On the NXT V2, Aluula replaces Dacron on the Leading Edge and struts: thinner sections, featherlight weight, and a Leading Edge that stays taut even under heavy load. You save about 500g compared to an equivalent Dacron construction, for immediate response to inputs. The V6 relies on Dacron, a proven fabric: robust and predictable construction, a bit heavier, but excellent durability-to-price ratio, ideal for learning and regular riding.
Oscar's Review (GlissEvolution Advisor): NXT V2 in La Baule
First immediate observation: the NXT V2 has a lot of power in the back hand. When pumping to take off, you find support in the back and you rip out of the water with this power. Unlike the Core Halo (all in the front hand, float type), here the driving arm is the back one. Once in the air, the thin sections of the Aluula take effect: the wing accelerates quickly, it's light and direct, and the stability is "nothing like the V1." When jumping, the lift in the back hand is the big highlight: if you pull on the back to stay in the air, you always find lift. When surfing, it stays flat and follows you down the wave. The ClickConnect boom mounts in two seconds, the ovalized boom doesn't cut your hands, and the roll-up bags are a real plus for everyday use.
Hadou Brunner's Review (PimpYourRide)
Hadou Brunner, a leading French-speaking wingfoil tester, has ridden both versions and provides his full analysis in video.
His Feelings on the NXT V2 (Aluula)
From the very first grip, Hadou notes the NXT V2's impressive lightness: the Aluula Leading Edge makes for a "lively" wing, reactive to the slightest movement. On the water, it responds instantly to changes in pressure, generates power efficiently when pumping, and its lightness facilitates rotations and hand changes. His verdict: "a wing that pushes you to ride more aggressively, it handles everything you throw at it." A formidable weapon for jumps and committed maneuvers.
His Take on the V6 (Dacron)
The V6 surprises with its performance level despite a more accessible construction: the differences with the NXT V2 are less striking than one might think. The behavior is softer and more progressive, the wing is more forgiving of piloting errors, an excellent choice for progression. The power is there, with a linear and predictable power delivery. Hadou summarizes: "for 90% of riders, the V6 will do the job perfectly. The difference is really felt in extreme conditions or for advanced freestyle."
In Summary: Our Combined Reviews
Oscar's and Hadou's opinions converge: Slingshot succeeds in its 2026 gamble. The NXT V2 establishes itself as a benchmark for demanding riders, the Aluula truly makes a difference in lightness, in-flight stability, and power in the back hand, two observations independently validated by the testers. The V6 remains the wing for the majority: high-performing, accessible, versatile, it allows for progression and enjoyment without breaking the bank.

FAQ: Slingshot SlingWing NXT 2026
What is the weight difference between the NXT V2 and V6?
There's approximately a 500 g difference for the same size. The NXT V2 in 4 m² weighs 1.98 kg, compared to about 2.5 kg for the V6. This difference is most noticeable in freestyle and light wind conditions.
Is the V6 really less performant than the NXT V2?
No. The V6 is a very high-performance wing. The main differences are in reactivity, lightness, and responsiveness during pumping. For freeride, both wings offer very similar performance.
Which NXT V2 size should you choose?
For a rider weighing 60-70 kg, a 4 m² or 4.5 m² is ideal as the main size, 5 to 5.5 m² for light wind, and 3.5 m² for strong wind. The 4 m² covers a range of 17 to 30 knots, making it the most versatile for the Atlantic.
Is the wishbone included with the NXT V2?
Yes, both wings are delivered with the wing, wishbone, and leash included. The ClickConnect system allows the wishbone to be assembled and disassembled in seconds.
Is the NXT V2 suitable for Surf?
Yes. Oscar particularly appreciated its performance when riding down waves: it stays flat and follows you without slowing you down. The plastic Freefly front handle poses no problem in a frontside position.
What is Aluula?
Aluula is an ultra-light and ultra-rigid technical material that replaces traditional Dacron on the Leading Edge and struts of high-end wings. It reduces weight and improves profile hold under load.
