DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Ceramic or stainless steel: the choice is yours.
Foil Drive offers both materials for the same function. Stainless steel costs less upfront. Ceramic lasts longer in saltwater because it simply doesn't oxidize. If you ride in the sea all year, our opinion is clear: ceramic pays for itself. If you're on a lake or ride occasionally, stainless steel is more than enough.
Knowing when to change your bearing.
A worn bearing will show signs before it breaks. Your motor might get noisy when idle, the propeller won't spin freely when you turn it by hand, or you might feel a hard spot. If you notice any of these, change it. A bearing that fails mid-session can damage the stator, and that repair bill will be much higher.
Installation requires a press.
Never hammer a bearing into place. The tool provided by Foil Drive distributes the force over the outer ring, preventing damage to the races. The manufacturer documents the procedure in their help center. If you're not comfortable with this type of operation, give us a call before you start disassembling.

FAQ
Ceramic or stainless steel for your setup?
If you're riding in saltwater regularly, ceramic is the way to go. For freshwater use or just a few sessions a season, stainless steel gets the job done for less. Both options install in the same straightforward manner.
Is the tool actually included?
Foil Drive includes one press tool per customer, not one for each bearing. If you've previously ordered a bearing from us, you already have your tool, and it's ready for reuse.
