The Ozone Pocket Rocket V2 is a high-performance, all-round parawing designed for foiling. It builds on the V1's foundation with a refined profile, a new Bow Bar, and a shorter bridle inspired by the PowerPack. The result is better upwind performance, a wider wind range, and a new 5.7m² size for light wind days.

KEY INFORMATION

Ozone Pocket Rocket V2, an all-conditions freeride parawing, available in 7 sizes from 1.9 to 5.7m².

What we like

  • Refined profile and diagonal ribs: enhanced canopy tension for a significant boost in upwind performance and low-end power.
  • Short bridle (PowerPack inspired): faster packing, quick redeployment, and improved responsiveness.
  • New Bow Bar: 33cm (1.9 and 2.4m²) or 36cm (3.0 to 5.7m²), with a clear center section for sliding your hands across.
  • Front lines with special parawing coating: smooth glide, anti-irritation, and quick packing.
  • Wider wind range: stalls later when riding downwind, creating a larger usable window.
  • Reduced aspect ratio: easier inflation and fewer wingtip catches on the water.
  • New 5.7m² size: opens up riding on light wind days.
  • Made at the Ozone Vietnam factory: in-house quality control ensures the same premium finishes as Ozone paragliders.

Damien's Review, GlissEvolution Ambassador

Damien (76 kg) tested the Pocket Rocket V2 in 3.0 and 3.6 m² with a Sevenseas 1100 foil at the spots in Pornichet and La Baule. His verdict: This parawing is significantly more precise than the V1, with far superior upwind performance and more direct steering thanks to the open-center Bow Bar. The pull is progressive and smooth, and its stability in strong wind lets you power through your runs without fear of a collapse. The quick packing from the short bridle is a huge plus when you're alternating between walking, swimming, and riding on rugged spots. For pure stash & glide, the PowerPack still has the edge. But for everything else-upwind, speed, wind range, and versatility-the V2 is the new benchmark.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Refined Profile, Redesigned Planform

The Pocket Rocket V2 refines the V1's winning formula. The new profile works in synergy with a redesigned planform and the Bow Bar to deliver more progressive power control, eliminating the on/off feel found on some parawings when changing the angle of attack. The wing is more forgiving thanks to a lower stall speed, letting you point high upwind with confidence, without the wing stalling. The reduced aspect ratio compared to the V1 makes inflation easier, steering more responsive, and minimizes wingtip contact with the water during aggressive maneuvers.

Diagonal Ribs and Canopy Tension

Diagonal ribs at the front distribute forces from the leading edge throughout the entire wing. This new structure improves canopy tension under all loads, especially at the low end where you get a noticeable gain in grunt to get up on the foil. The canopy stays solid even when you're powered up: no flutter, no distortion, the wing just holds its shape. Over long sessions, that means less fatigue, more predictable steering, and more stable handling in gusts.

Bow Bar: Clear Center Section

The new Bow Bar eliminates the central leader line found on the V1. This completely frees up the center section, allowing you to move your hands anywhere on the bar and focus on your riding and steering rather than hand placement. The Bow Line acts on the central bridle points with a ratio that controls the wing evenly through changes in the angle of attack. Two lengths are available depending on size: 33cm on the 1.9 and 2.4m² (balancing control and compactness for strong wind), and 36cm on the 3.0 to 5.7m² (offering a wider grip area for maneuvers and stashing).

Short Bridle Inspired by the PowerPack

The bridle, directly inspired by the PowerPack, is shorter than on the V1, making packing faster and redeployment simpler. There's no need to align each line to fold the wing; it folds naturally along its geometric lines. This is a real advantage when you're alternating between riding and stashing, saving you time with each transition. The Spanwise Bridge Lines distribute the load evenly, and the more direct connection between the bar and the wing is immediately noticeable in the steering: less slack, more precision, and faster response to your inputs.

Front Lines: Special Parawing Coating

The front lines feature a new parawing-specific coating that is just stiff enough to glide perfectly between your fingers, making on-the-fly packing a breeze. The line diameter has been refined to reduce drag while maintaining more than enough strength. This coating also protects your hands from irritation during repeated handling, so even after stashing the wing multiple times in a long session, your hands remain intact. The terminations are clean, doubled, and sewn, with no fraying ends.

Who is the Pocket Rocket V2 designed for?

The Pocket Rocket V2 is the most versatile parawing in the Ozone lineup. It's ideal for riders new to parawinging, thanks to its predictable steering and low stall speed. Experienced riders looking to push their progression in upwind performance, speed, and wind range will also find it's exactly what they need. PowerPack riders wanting to complete their quiver with a faster, more versatile parawing will find it a perfect fit. For long sessions, it's ideal to pair with the Ozone Stash Harness or Stash Belt and dedicated harness lines.

FAQ

Who is the Ozone Pocket Rocket V2 for?

The Pocket Rocket V2 is Ozone's most versatile parawing. It's perfect for riders new to parawinging, offering predictable steering and a low stall speed. Experienced riders will appreciate its potential for pushing upwind performance and speed. It's also a great addition to a PowerPack owner's quiver for days that require better upwind drive and top-end speed.

What are the features of the Pocket Rocket V2?

It's a single-skin design featuring a refined profile, an elliptical planform, diagonal front ribs, a reduced aspect ratio, and a short, PowerPack-inspired bridle. It comes with a carbon Bow Bar (33cm or 36cm) and front lines with a special parawing coating. The V2 is available in 7 sizes (1.9 to 5.7m²) and two colorways, and is built in Ozone's own factory in Vietnam.

Which Pocket Rocket V2 size should I choose?

For an 80kg rider: the 3.0m² works well in 18-25 knots, the 3.6m² in 16-22 knots, and the 4.3m² in 13-15 knots. The 1.9m² and 2.4m² are for high winds (25+ knots), while the 5.0m² and new 5.7m² cover your light wind sessions. A typical two-wing quiver would be a 3.0 and 4.3, or a 3.6 and 5.0.

What's the difference between the Pocket Rocket V1 and V2?

The V2 introduces the uncluttered Bow Bar, a shorter PowerPack-inspired bridle, diagonal front ribs, and a new profile. These updates deliver more direct steering, faster packing, better canopy tension, improved upwind performance, and a wider wind range. The V2 line-up also adds a 5.7m² size for light wind, making it a significant upgrade over the V1 in performance and usability.

Pocket Rocket V2 vs PowerPack: which one to choose?

The PowerPack is built for pure stash & glide: it's ultra-compact, has a powerful initial pull, is more forgiving, and is perfect for downwind runs. The Pocket Rocket V2 is more versatile, with better upwind performance, more speed, a wider wind range, and more precise handling. For all-round riding and getting upwind, choose the V2. For linking downwinders, stashing the wing between runs, pick the PowerPack.

What are the advantages of the Pocket Rocket V2?

Its key advantages are significantly improved upwind performance, a wider wind range, and more direct steering from the uncluttered Bow Bar. The short bridle makes packing faster, while the lower stall speed adds forgiveness. The new 5.7m² size also opens up more light wind riding possibilities.

Do you need a harness with the Pocket Rocket V2?

A harness isn't required, but it's highly recommended for longer sessions and extended upwind tacks. The Ozone Stash Harness or Stash Belt are designed specifically for parawinging, making it easy to hook in and out. Paired with dedicated harness lines, a harness makes long sessions much more comfortable.

Caring for Your Pocket Rocket V2

To keep your Pocket Rocket V2 in top shape, rinse it with fresh water after each session and let it dry completely in the shade before packing. Avoid leaving it folded while wet. Regularly check lines and attachment points for wear. Store your parawing in its bag, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
