DETAILED DESCRIPTION

An unforgettable riding experience

The ZAP delivers a fast riding style with high upwind performance, thanks to its double-skin construction and stable profile. Push your limits and cover long distances for even longer downwind runs. Flysurfer highlights the hybrid identity of this craft: parawing, wing, low-aspect kite, foil race? It's up to each rider to define how they use it. Hook in, go fast, go far, then pack the ZAP in-flight to surf a clean wave with total freedom. A parawing designed for the pioneers of a new discipline, somewhere between wingfoil and kitefoil.

Open-cell, double-skin design

The ZAP features a double-skin, open-cell construction. Internal pressure remains constant in flight, inflation is easy, and the profile stays stable even when fully sheeted out: this is its depowered stability, one of the strong points claimed by Flysurfer. This design also delivers superior aerodynamic efficiency compared to a single-skin model, resulting in better upwind drive, higher speeds, and the ability to cover long distances without losing control. The ZAP is the pure performance option in the 2026 Flysurfer parawing range, contrasting with the POW 2, which prioritizes single-skin simplicity.

Sheathed, fluorescent, short bridle

The ZAP's entire bridle is sheathed and fluorescent. This means the lines are easy to see in the water, which helps prevent tangles. The sheathing also protects the line core and is softer on your hands. The color coding is clear and makes setup simple: A-level in pink, B & C-levels in purple, and Z-level in orange. The bridle geometry is also short. This reduced length makes packing and unpacking easier, ensures consistent handling across all sizes, and makes transitions smoother. The color coding makes setup intuitive and helps prevent rigging errors.

Ergonomic straight bar

Unlike the POW 2, which uses a bent handle, the ZAP is equipped with an ergonomic straight bar. This bar provides neutral power transfer and precise steering in all conditions. It prioritizes direct feedback from the parawing, precision when riding upwind, and control at speed. This choice is consistent with the ZAP's expert focus: you steer the parawing like a performance tool with a direct, unfiltered connection. Combined with the downwind packing system, which allows the parawing to be doused and stowed in-flight, the straight bar also allows for quick transitions between high-speed runs and pure wave riding.

FAQ

Who is the Flysurfer ZAP for?

The ZAP is for expert and professional riders who have already mastered parawing or foiling and are looking for pure performance: aggressive upwind drive, speed, long distances, and committed downwinders. Its double-skin open-cell construction and ergonomic straight bar require a high skill level to exploit the parawing's full potential. To start or progress in parawing with a more forgiving model, check out the POW 2 instead.

POW 2 or ZAP: how to choose?

The POW 2 is a single-skin parawing that's simple, versatile, and accessible to all levels, from beginner to pro. It's ideal for downwind surfing and drift, with express packing and unpacking. The ZAP is a double-skin, open-cell parawing that delivers high upwind performance and speed, built for experts who want to cover long distances and push their limits. Your first parawing tool → POW 2. Seeking pure performance → ZAP.

Which ZAP size should you choose?

The 3.0 m² is the high-performance size for strong to very strong wind (22 to 38 knots). The 4.0 m² covers sustained medium winds (18 to 28 knots) and is the versatile, all-round size many riders will choose first. The 5.0 m² is for medium winds (13 to 22 knots). The 6.5 m² is dedicated to light wind and long-distance riding (10 to 19 knots). A typical starter quiver would be a 4.0 and 5.0, or a 4.0 and 6.5, depending on your local spot.

Why an open-cell parawing?

The double-skin, open-cell construction provides constant internal pressure in flight, easy inflation, and a stable profile, even when fully sheeted out. Its aerodynamic efficiency is superior to a single-skin, which results in better upwind performance and more speed. It's the go-to design for performance and speed-oriented parawings.

What does the ZAP pack include?

The pack includes the ZAP parawing, the Flysurfer parawing backpack (designed for foiling and can be worn on the water), the ergonomic straight bar, a repair kit, and a harness line. The ESCAPE Harness deployment belt, specifically for downwind riding, is an optional extra and is sold separately.

Is an ESCAPE Harness belt necessary?

It's not mandatory, as the ZAP connects to your own harness with the included harness line. However, the ESCAPE Harness belt is specifically designed for quickly stowing and relaunching the parawing. It's ideal if you're doing multiple downwind runs and need to pack down between each wave-riding section to get back upwind. For long sessions that mix high-speed riding and surfing, it's a huge efficiency boost.

How to maintain your ZAP?

Rinse it with fresh water after each session, let it dry completely in the shade before packing it away, and avoid storing it wet for long periods. Regularly check the condition of the bridle, especially the line ends and attachment points. The fluorescent sheathing protects the line cores, but you should still inspect it for wear, especially after sessions over sand or rocks. Keep it stored in its backpack, out of direct sunlight.
