The O'Riginals RG8 5/4mm continues the legacy of one of the most iconic wetsuits in O'Neill's history. Launched in 2010, the RG8 (Regenerate) name symbolises both high-performance stretch and the brand's commitment to sustainability. This 5/4mm version is built for winter sessions on European coastlines.
Yulex: natural neoprene
Yulex foam is extracted from Hevea brasiliensis, an FSC-certified natural rubber. It reduces the wetsuit's carbon footprint by almost 80% compared to petroleum-based neoprene, while offering a soft, natural stretch and lasting thermal comfort.
Chest Zip: freedom and watertightness
The chest zip entry system eliminates the back zip panel, preventing flushing and allowing for total shoulder mobility. This is essential for paddling in surf or during intense kitesurf sessions. The superior seal retains body heat for longer, a critical feature in winter.
Recycled Firewall and UltraTech linings

Yulex is a foam made from FSC-certified natural rubber (from the Hevea brasiliensis tree) that is used instead of traditional petroleum-based neoprene. It reduces the wetsuit's carbon footprint by nearly 80% while providing natural flexibility and excellent thermal retention.
A chest zip provides a better seal to reduce water flushing and eliminates the rigid zip panel on the back, offering more flexibility and shoulder freedom. While a back zip is often easier to get into, a chest zip is warmer and less restrictive, making it ideal for surfing and kitesurfing.
A 5/4mm wetsuit is ideal for water temperatures between 8°C and 17°C, making it the standard choice for winter sessions along Europe's Atlantic coast. For water below 10°C, we recommend adding 5mm boots, gloves, and a hood for complete thermal protection.
Absolutely. The O'Riginals RG8 is an excellent choice for kitesurfing. The chest zip design stays out of the way of your harness, and the combination of flexible Yulex foam with warm Firewall and UltraTech linings provides the comfort and insulation needed for long sessions in cold water.
After each session, rinse your wetsuit thoroughly with fresh, cold water. Hang it to dry inside-out in the shade, away from direct sunlight. Do not wring it out, put it in a washing machine, or use fabric softener. For a deeper clean, you can occasionally use a dedicated wetsuit shampoo.
