Wake 2017 - Slingshot Solo Review

For the 2017 season, Slingshot introduces the SOLO, a new wakeboard designed for park riding. Here's a closer look:

The board, developed by rider Dylan Miller and legendary Slingshot shaper Tony Logosz, comes in 3 sizes: 138, 142, and 146. Yes, the current trend among pro riders is very large boards. In terms of design, each size has its own color for easy differentiation, but the Slingshot spirit is still very present with a quirky but not too hardcore design; the result is quite nice.     In terms of technology, the Solo incorporates all the latest Slingshot innovations, starting with the new Grind Base, renamed Ballistic Grind Base. This one is designed to be more comfortable with better glide but also more resistant than the old Slingshot grind base, so we can't wait to test it and give you our opinion.       On some boards, there has been significant work on the core's cut, with the center of the board having a rather classic thickness while the tips have been thinned. The advantage is a board that is stiffer in the center and more flexible at the tips, which allows for more direct and bigger pop while maintaining excellent control and comfort during landings. And the flexibility of the tips provides ease and comfort for approaching obstacles. Get ready for epic presses!     And one of the first things you notice about the Solo is the absence of rails. This is not unique to this model, as Slingshot has decided this year to remove the rails in favor of molded carbon inserts. Reliability is increased, as is the overall flexibility of the boards. And that's pretty great news.       Slingshot announces the Solo as the market's Best Seller in 2017, positioned between a Windsor and a Reflex, it would be the perfect board for maximum versatility in the Park. To be continued. In the meantime, we leave you with the presentation video.
