Fanatic 2022 Sky Wing 5.0 75L Review

Upon unboxing:

A board with a super well-designed look and beautiful finishes, weighing 6.2kg.
The shape is totally different from its big sister, the Ensis Score V1.

Its strengths:

- It has excellent proportions, a perfect length-to-width ratio, which allows for good glide and speed gain for take-off and getting airborne.
- The volume distribution provides good longitudinal stability when standing on the board. Very well balanced.
- The hull shape allows for good glide at launch and faster take-off than its big sister V1.
- Comfortable deck with a slight concave, which provides good control in turns.
- The pad is a great asset for me; it's firm and grips perfectly underfoot.
- Top-notch durability and finishes.
-Double handle on the deck and hull shape, perfect for handling on land, with or without the foil.
- The multitude of strap adjustments.

Its Weaknesses:

- The absence of a double concave (hull shape) makes the board less reactive to touchdowns.

In summary:

This is a very good board that, in my opinion, offers the best length-to-width compromise for this 75L volume.
It's a shame that in this range, the 4'8 and 5'0 don't have more radical hull shapes, like the 4'6 and 4'7.
That said, as Fanatic announced, it fits perfectly into its allround use.

Ensis Score 4.0 and 5.2 Review:

Unboxing:

The bag is minimalist. It comes with a leash and a repair kit, and most importantly, its pump nozzle adapter, an Ensis-specific system I wasn't familiar with. The nozzle is compatible with my F-One pump.
Quality construction materials and beautiful finishes.
Score 4.0m² = 2.6kg
Score 5.2m² = 2.9kg.
Using the same luggage scale at the same time, I weighed a Swing V2 4.2m² = 1.8kg.

Quality construction materials and beautiful finishes.

In my opinion, there's a lot of reinforcement for multi-tasking use, whether on the water for wingfoil, on the beach with a mountainboard, or on snow for skiing and snowboarding. The Swiss Army Knife wing.
The wing is a bit heavy, but you completely forget about it when flying and freeflying. I only noticed the weight during light wind phases before take-off.

Its Strengths:

- Very powerful wing. Definitely underrated in size. I overlaid the Score 5.2m² with a Takoon V1 6m², and it seemed to be the same size.
- The wing's stiffness, with a well-tensioned Trailing Edge, allows for a stable profile that doesn't shift.
- Handle dimensions, stiffness, and placement. There's no flutter during transitions, and the length of the handles makes them easy to find.
- In free surf, the wing offers super stability.
- The wing does not flap
- The PVC windows are good for visibility. It's definitely a plus, especially if there are a lot of people on the spot.
Score 4.0m² = Span 323cm - Leading Edge to Trailing Edge, central strut 184cm
Score 5.2m² = Span 348cm - Leading Edge to Trailing Edge, central strut 213cm

Its Weaknesses:

- I find the bag too small; it's difficult to quickly pack the wing after a session, and there's no exterior pocket for 2 or 3 accessories.
- The weight is far too heavy, especially when you're used to riding with an HB Guide or Duotone Slick.
- No deflate valve on the central strut.
- I'm not a fan of this type of leash; it's too heavy with an additional hook-and-loop extension.

In summary:

This Ensis Score wing is in my top 3; I'm super happy with it, whatever the conditions. It's comfortable, powerful, stable, and balanced.
