Ideal conditions for testing
I tested the F-One Addikt Tec kite in quite technical but ideal conditions to evaluate its performance. The La Turballe spot offered irregular wind of 17 to 33 knots in on-side-onshore, with swell oscillating between 2.5 and 3.9 m at the Four buoy and an 8'' period. In short, these conditions allowed me to explore the kite's full potential.
Handling
Handling is quick and intuitive. At first, I found the kite underpowered, but it largely compensates with its ability to generate apparent wind thanks to its responsiveness. It turns and accelerates quickly, which provides consistent power even in lulls. With my 85 kg on a 9 m², one or two re-launches were enough to be comfortable in the lulls, and in the gusts, the kite remained stable.
Steering and handling
Light bar pressure: it's very pleasant and light on the bar, and I love that!
Speed: rotations are fluid and precise, perfect for dynamic maneuvers.
Acceleration: what I love about new kite materials, and it's true for this Addikt Tec, is that when you sheet in, it accelerates immediately, with no lag time. In messy shore break conditions, it's a lifesaver!
Overpower tolerance: the kite handles gusts perfectly, which is reassuring in irregular conditions; it remains stable even when overpowered.
Upwind performance: better than the old version, I gained a few degrees on my friends with the Bandit S4.
Drift that makes a difference
In side-on wind with active shore break, I linked tight maneuvers and late back loop relaunches. The kite was always reliable, without stalling. Its impressive drift allows you to maintain control during transitions, even in critical moments, and there were plenty... I pushed the screws! I also appreciated its neutrality in the Surf; I've rarely ridden a kite that knows how to be so easily forgotten.
