Introducing the Strider SLS
The Strider SLS is a full carbon board, super stiff and light. It's 34 inches long and 16 inches wide, making it a clearly accessible pocket board. What Hadou likes about this model is that it's buoyant but not excessively so. With its 14 liters, it allows you to easily get back on the pontoon if you fall in the water, but it remains compact enough not to be cumbersome. Unlike 9-liter mini-pockets that sink when you stop, here you still have a bit of buoyancy, which is a real advantage for dockstart.
Shape and Technical Specifications
Regarding the shape, it's very taut, with a well-distributed flat area between the tail and the front of the boxes. There's still a slight rocker at the front to forgive minor errors, especially in kite foil or foil assist. The rails are classic double US rails, which do the job well. The exposed carbon gives it a stylish look, and the monopad on the deck ensures good grip. The board is both beautiful and functional.
Field Test
Hadou took this 14-liter Strider SLS out for various sessions. He tested it in dockstart with a Whizz 1450 and a short 60 cm fuselage. This setup was truly perfect for this board. Even in slightly challenging conditions, the board's stiffness and stability allow for excellent performance. With a smaller stab, you add a bit more responsiveness to the foil, which is great for those who like a lively feel.
Feelings and Opinion
Once on the water, the board is truly enjoyable. It's stiff, which allows for good glide and quick responsiveness to movements. Even at a weight of 2.8 kg, it remains light for a pocket board of this type. The fact that it's super robust means you can use it without fear; even with a large foil and a rider over 100 kg, it won't budge.
It was during downwind sessions with foil assist that Hadou really had a blast. The Strider's stability and handling make it easy to pump to reconnect waves, a real plus. It's also compact enough to allow for good carving while remaining light for quick transitions.
Who is the Strider SLS for?
✅ The Strider SLS is for you if:
- You practice dockstart and are looking for a high-performance pocket board
- You want a versatile board for pumping, foil assist, and downwind
- You are looking for a stiff and robust board that supports heavier riders
- You want a good compromise between buoyancy and compactness with 14 liters
- You also do kite foil and want a universal board
Look elsewhere if:
- You're new to wingfoil: you need a board with more volume (80L+)
- You're looking for an ultra-light mini-pocket board under 10 liters
- You exclusively ride classic freeride with a wing: a classic wingfoil board will be more suitable
Verdict
The Duotone Strider SLS is a super fun, versatile, and robust pocket board. Its full 3K carbon construction offers top-tier stiffness and responsiveness, and its 14 liters strike the right balance between buoyancy and compactness. The low rocker and straight shape make pumping very efficient, while the small nose rocker forgives mistakes. It's perfect for dockstart, but it performs just as well for kite foil, foil assist, or downwind. For riders looking for a ready-to-use pocket board capable of performing in different foil configurations, the Strider SLS is clearly a choice to consider.
Our opinion in one sentence
