Core Halo 2026: Test and Review of the Wing with Bionic Boom Carbon

Updated March 10, 2026 6 min read

Hadou Brunner got his hands on the Core Halo 2026 in his video, and we're providing a full summary here. With the Halo, CORE delivers a wing designed for durability, both on the water and as a rider progresses: from the first foil take-off to advanced freestyle and waves, it covers a very wide spectrum without ever feeling compromised. The secret lies largely in its Bionic Boom carbon, which changes how the wing is held and how impulses are transmitted.

Thanks to Hadou Brunner for his video review.

The Core Halo 2026 is an all-round freeride/freestyle/wave wing, from 2.4 to 6 m², built around a Bionic Boom carbon for direct and responsive steering.

CoreTex® 2 canopy with radial seams, ExoTex® HD airframe, Glass Battens, and Double Speed Valve. Suitable for supervised beginners to advanced riders. Delivered with bag and boom (leash not included). Price: €1.229 to €1.599.

The Bionic Boom: The Precision of a Boom

Most wings use soft or semi-rigid handles. CORE chose a different path with the Bionic Boom carbon, a one-piece boom integrated into the wing's structure. Unlike soft handles, it transmits every wrist pressure directly to the structure: clean transitions, efficient pumping, better controlled freestyle rotations. The carbon lightens the overall weight and reduces fatigue during long sessions, while still retaining handles for freedom of hand placement. The feel is intuitive for kiters accustomed to a boom, and the stability on take-off reassures beginners.

  • One-piece carbon boom: maximum stiffness, direct force transmission.
  • Maintained handles: preserved grip comfort, free hand placement.
  • Technical maneuvers made easier: freestyle, tacks, waves.
  • Reduced fatigue: carbon lightness for long sessions.

Technologies and Construction

ExoTex® HD Airframe

Thinner and stiffer Leading Edge than the previous generation. Reduced frontal drag, better wind penetration: the wing responds faster to angle changes, especially during pumping and fast freeride.

CoreTex® 2 Canopy

Canopy with radial seams that distribute loads and limit the aspect ratio. The profile remains constant between 10 and 35 knots. In gusts, the kite does not open: predictable behavior at high speed.

Glass Battens

Fiberglass battens that maintain the profile's camber even at full speed. No deformation in short gusts, predictable behavior when exiting waves and during transitions.

Double Speed Valve

Accelerated inflation and deflation, with integrated pressure control valve. On a windy spot, every minute counts. The wing comes with a bag and boom: operational upon receipt.

Which Core Halo size should you choose?

Choosing the right wing size is key to enjoying your time on the water. Here are some practical guidelines:

SurfaceWindWho it's for
2.4-3.5 m²Strong wind · 25+ knotsWaves, technical freestyle, sustained conditions. Experienced light riders or all levels in strong wind.
4-4.5 m²Allround · 15-25 knotsThe reference wing for your quiver. Daily freeride with freestyle options. Rider 70-85 kg.
5-6 m²Light wind · 10-18 knotsPump foil, progression, light winds. Heavy riders (85 kg+) or supervised beginners.

When in doubt, it's better to go a size down: a wing that's too big is harder to control and more tiring. A free consultation appointment in Pornichet allows you to test different sizes on the spot.

In summary: The Core Halo 2026

The Core Halo 2026 ticks many boxes: a carbon Bionic Boom that provides the precision of a boom without sacrificing the comfort of handles, a construction (ExoTex® HD, CoreTex® 2, Glass Battens) that maintains a stable and predictable profile from light wind to gusts, and a full range of sizes from 2.4 to 6 m². It's an all-round wing that supports progression, from the first flight to committed freestyle and waves, without ever feeling restricted.

FAQ: Core Halo 2026

Who is the Core Halo 2026 for?

The Core Halo is for a wide range of riders: supervised beginners, intermediate, and advanced. It covers freeride, freestyle, and wave riding. The Bionic Boom carbon makes it easy to handle, while the Glass Battens and CoreTex® 2 canopy satisfy technical riders.

What is the Core Halo's Bionic Boom?

The Bionic Boom is a one-piece carbon boom integrated into the wing. It offers a steering feel similar to a traditional boom while maintaining the comfort of handles. It provides direct response to every impulse, ideal for freestyle and technical maneuvers.

Which Core Halo size should you choose?

Small sizes (2.4 to 3 m²) are for strong winds or waves. Intermediate sizes (3.5 to 4.5 m²) offer freeride/freestyle versatility. Large sizes (5 to 6 m²) are for light winds and progression. When in doubt, it's better to go down one size.

What is ExoTex® / CoreTex® construction?

The ExoTex® HD Airframe forms a thinner, stiffer Leading Edge for less drag. The CoreTex® 2 Canopy is the fabric with radial seams that limit the aspect ratio and maintain the profile at all speeds, including in gusts.

Is the boom included with the Core Halo?

Yes. The Core Halo comes with its travel bag and the boom. The leash is not included; it must be purchased separately depending on your setup (wrist or arm leash).
